Who needs our program?
Alcohol and drug abuse becomes a problem for someone when
it affects their life. Several areas can be affected, including
employment, family,
financial, and legal issues.
Our classes provide information on alcoholism, drug addiction, how it affects one's family and life, and how to recover from these addictions.
Available services to Transitional House Residents
(All programs are located on the Nooksack
Health Services Campus)
Medical Services
To qualify for this service, all resident's of the Genesis II Transition House
must have a valid Washington State Medical Coupon. Resident's will receive regular
medical services at the Nooksack Tribal Clinic on the Health Service campus. Resident's
will receive full physical examinations, and develop and medical plan based on
individual needs. During their stay they will receive any treatment prescribed by the
Clinic Physician.
Dental Services
Resident's will receive a complete oral exam. Dental treatment will be
offered to all eligible resident's.
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Each resident of the Genesis II
Transitional House will receive a full Evaluation and Assessment for Substance Abuse and Chemical Dependency, as well as a full Mental Health Evaluation. All residents participate in individualized
Chemical Dependency treatment based on ASAM placement criteria at the Outpatient Clinic located on the Nooksack Health Services Campus.
They also may receive Mental Health Counseling and Therapy. This treatment
includes weekly individual therapy, 2-5 times per week Group Therapy, as well as Family Therapy, when appropriate. Residents also attend a
structured Anger Management program.
Self-help groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, are held daily.
Vocational Services
Genesis II Transition House is not only a place to heal, but a place to
organize and plan for the future. Trained staff will work with residents to establish a
vocational program to assist the residents in re-joining the community. Working to
establish personal pride and a sense of accomplishment is an important goal of the
transition house program.
